Altcar

On the 9th of October  at around half past 7, 20 cadets  including myself set off for the Altcar camp. The camp was a field-craft camp meaning that we would be learning to hide from other people using camouflage, making small shelters etc.  Once we had arrived, we went straight into the barracks as everyone was exhausted from the journey. Instead of having the briefing when we had got there, we decided to have it in the morning after our breakfast. We were told to wake up  at 6 o’clock   every morning which wasn’t what I was used to.

After the briefing, we went and learnt the basic field-craft skills you would need. This was only because it was my second camp as an air cadet. The night exercise was ,by far, my favourite part of the camp. The basic grasp  of the exercise was that it was the newer cadets versus the more  “senior” cadets in a capture the flag  type game. In the end, the newer cadets ended up winning! This was because of a heroic ambush made by the whole team.

On the final day of the camp, we were to do some shooting! After waiting all day, we finally shot the number 8 and I got regional marksman! Which made my family and myself very proud!
